Sex Toy Trends 2021

The clear trend for sex aids in 2021 is dildos made of high quality material (liquid silicone). The term is also sometimes used Premium silicone or platinum silicone (not to be confused with the old hard silicone known as medical silicone). They come in all sorts of shapes including animal shapes - dog, horse, snake, octopus dildos and fantasy shapes - ogre dildos.

This explosion occurred quite suddenly. In 2016, an American company called Mr. Hankey Toys started producing these dildos. Gradually, others were added. But it was a very expensive affair, with the larger dildos costing $200 including VAT in the US and around $300 in Europe. In 2019, Extasica had great difficulty finding a supplier in China for these high quality dildos. They only made two types of horse dildos in plastic, which were very hard and unkind to the human body. Even one of them stopped being offered and only the clunky FaaK horse dildo remained.

In 2019, one manufacturer turned us down with the idea of producing a horse dildo, saying it was too risky. One made us a horse dildo in plastic, which you can see in our Museum. It subsequently flooded Aliexpress. We were approached by a manufacturer who was able to produce it in liquid silicone at a reasonable price with Extasica paying for the moulds. So in 2019 we offered a highly high quality large silicone dildos In mid-2021, Chinese manufacturers woke up and it became a trend that European sex shops will discover in 2022 and beyond.

Dilda made of liquid silicone they certainly make sense. They don't etch to the touch with any other aids, are very comfortable, hygienic due to non-porosity, and pleasantly soft, especially if you have a custom softness like Extasica to match the hardness of human tissue (around 8HC). The market standard is more likely to be harder around 20-30HC.

Another trend for 2021 and 2020 is disinfectant gels in connection with covid. These gels are unsuitable for sex. They burn in the vagina and in the anus. At Extasica we don't like them and specifically discourage customers from using them. But customers want them. We stubbornly didn't understand this trend until late 2021, and that's why we've had these gels consistently sell out from 2020-2021 :). We are not sorry. Better to make sex enjoyable with the lubes below without the stinging disinfectant or antifungal additives.

Further, interest in the sex doll has faded. It was quite a trendy thing when it 2016/2017 started coming to Europe. A lot was written about artificial dolls and now nothing. That's good. We always warned customers to consider it carefully.

They hardly sell BDSM toys made of quality leather. This is not a 2021 trend but a long term thing. Quality leather sex toys are approximately 5 times more expensive than leatherette sex toys. That's why 95% sex shops don't even offer them. Extasica sex shop is aiming higher and will keep these aids for years to come. We would even like to get stronger in this segment, but there is a long term problem with quality manufacturers.
